D N Schwartz & Co is co-owned by David N. Schwartz and his wife, Susan Schwartz.
David N. Schwartz has over 25 years of experience in the financial services sector, both as a practitioner and as an executive search professional. He joined Goldman Sachs' London office in 1986 as a bond trader, and from 1986 until 1994 held positions in Goldman’s London office (Fixed Income and Operations, Technology and Finance Divisions). From 1995 until 2000 he ran a successful London-based executive search practice, and helped recruit the team for what became one of the largest and most successful private equity firms in London (Terra Firma Capital Partners). In 2000 he was recruited back to Goldman Sachs to run the human resources function for its Investment Banking Division in Europe. David moved to NY in 2002 to run worldwide recruiting for Goldman Sachs’ Investment Banking Division. In 2005 David and Susan launched
D N Schwartz & Co based on David's distinctive approach to the executive search business. Prior to his business career, David worked in the national security/defense policy sector, with assignments at the US Department of State and the Brookings Institution. He has written several books on national security matters published by Brookings. David received a BA from Stanford University in 1976 and a PhD from MIT in 1980, both in Political Science. He has been active on the Alumni Council of Phillips Academy in Andover, MA, and also served as an alumni representative for the admissions department for over 20 years. David is very active at the Lotos Club in New York City. He is Club Secretary, a member of the Board of Directors, head of the Literary Committee, and runs a monthly history book group.
Susan Schwartz graduated from University of Pennsylvania with a BA in Urban Studies, spent several years working as a pastry chef in Philadelphia and then received her MBA from Columbia University in Marketing in 1986. Susan worked in product management at Nabisco Brands and General Foods on such iconic brands as Oreo Cookies, Ritz Crackers and Jell-O Gelatin. In 1992, Susan left the corporate world behind and pursued a career in commercial film production, working freelance until 2005. Highlights from her days in film production include working with Robert DeNiro, Harrison Ford, Julie Andrews, Martha Stewart and Donald Trump and filming in remote locations such as Iceland and Costa Rica. As a Film Production Manager and Producer, Susan supervised crews as large as 100 and budgets worth several million dollars. In 2005, Susan and David founded
D N Schwartz & Co. She shares David's love of fine wine and travel, is active with Alumni Affairs for Columbia Business School and is a proud supporter of Fountain House.
